 It's been a turbulent year for our industry. The weather has not cooperated, and the economy has been tough on everyone; but through all of this we want our customers to know one thing is for sure - "You can count on us!"
The last couple of years have been some of the toughest times for our industry that we've seen in our 34-year history. My father E.J. used to say, "Our industry is economy-proof." Unfortunately that statement no longer holds true and thankfully father never had to see what we've seen lately.
With all the bad news out there: distributors and contractors alike going out of business, financial woes of the Average Joe, and what some describe as an "uncertain future"; I want you to know that no matter what is going on "out there", that there is still one thing you can count on...us!
You can count on us to have the people who can provide you the best service in the industry. You can count on us to have the product you need, when you need it. You can count on us to keep you competitive.
Simply stated: You can count on us to be there when you need us.
Thank you for continued support and we look forward to "being there for you" in 2010.

REAMS Open Houses
|
REAMS will be hosting Open Houses at our Omaha and Kansas City Locations at the end of January. This is an excellent opportunity for our customers to interact with one another and visit with the REAMS Staff and our manufacturer representative partners.
The Open House will be from 2pm until 6pm. There will be a trade show at each location along with drawings, special buys, appetizers, and refreshments.

Earthworm Jobs Second Annual
Education Week!!! |
Earthworm Jobs 2nd Annual Education Week will be held Feb. 1st - 5th in Omaha, NE. There will be classes offered from the IA, PLANET, Kichler, and Aquascape. Both classes and exams will be offered during this week.
Some of the IA classes that will be offered are Certified Irrigation Contractor, Sprinkler System Scheduling, Electrical Trouble Shooting, Chemigation/Fertigation, and Smart Technologies.
The PLANET Class being offered is a one day class on Turf Management. This is a refresher course covering information needed to pass the Certified Turfgrass Professional Exam.
Kichler and Aquascape will also be holding introductory classes for those interested in getting started in Low Voltage Lighting or Water Features. Courses will cover all aspects of each as well as the profitability of each field.
Exams for both IA and PLANET Certifications will be held Friday February 5th.

EPA and Water Sense Update
|
The Environmental Protection Agency plans to expand its WaterSense conservation program to include a voluntary label for newly built homes. Homeowners waste a lot of water laboring to keep lawns lush. This is the current mindset of the EPA when it comes to irrigation. There have been many strides made by the EPA when it comes to water conservation on the inside of homes, now there effort has seemed to switch to the water usage on the exterior of homes.

Aquascape is taking its show on the road this winter with the dynamic duo of Ed Beaulieu, Chief Sustainability Officer, and Greg Wittstock, "The Pond Guy™". In our 20-cities in 3-countries tour, we are spreading the message about the "green" sustainability movement, in a seminar tour titled "The Green Community Movement."From contractors to landscape architects, city engineers to conservationists, we are inviting all those who want to be involved, to be included in capitalizing on the "green" movement that's sweeping our planet. From water conservation to storm water management, LED lighting to xeriscaping, if it's happening outdoors and it's conservation-oriented, we will be presenting it.
